ICBTDEM! #4: Terence Stamp

Posted by danmeow | July 2nd, 2008

Terence Stamp in 'Haunted Mansion'Following the deviation from music in the ICBTDEM post about Oprah, I thought I would express my shock in finding out about Terence Stamp being vegan.

If the picture (from “Haunted Mansion”) on the left isn’t immediately recognisable, think “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert” – in the film version, Stamp plays the drag queen turned transsexual, part of a troupe travelling to the centre of Australia to mime the words to other peoples’ songs for truck drivers and soon-to-be liberated country-folk.

If you’re one of a few owning a copy of The Smiths’ “What Difference Does it Make?” you either have a picture of Stamp holding a chloroform pad (a publicity shot from “The Collector”) or of Morrissey in the exact same pose, looking very much like him but holding a glass of STFU. (Morrissey is vegan too, so one would assume the white liquid isn’t cow’s milk.)

Is he really? I used to buy food from his Stamp collection when I lived in London, which was delicious. But if Terry really is vegan, I’ll love him even more as I’ve always been a fan.

All sources I could find on the internet seemed to indicate yes!
