Pro-tip: If you’re a fan of the Voltaire Twins, take note.

SEXY is a place, a time, a feeling, a state of mind.

That first look of lust between two people on a dance floor, that fluttering feeling in your stomach when you knew you’re seconds away from your first kiss, the scary but nice feeling at the end of the night when he/she asks “so would you like to come in?”.

It’s all that. And more.

SEXY asks “do you remember the first time?”
Let’s go back to that first time and do it all again. Do it right. Do it hard. Do it fast. Do it slow. Do it deep. Do it. On the dance floor.

SEXY is a new night, monthly at first (but who knows…), hosted by nice people who believe in good DJs, good tunes, tall haircuts, cheap drinks, cheap entry and cheap thrills. First night is Saturday April 4, opening not long after midnight. The party will be happening till the wee hours of day break.

Over the next few months expect lots of guest DJ sets by local bands and projection projects from local artists. It’s not the same night out you’d have if you were out at any of the other (unnamed) late night bars, and nobody’s going to be taking your fingerprints or scanning your ID.

It’s held at The Republic, on Shafto Lane near Wellington Street. If you haven’t been there already you’ve got to look for the unmarked door in the laneway near the corner. Don’t worry, it’s not hard to find. And believe me, it’ll be worth it once you do.

DJs Teenwolf, Rex Monsoon and Jackattack will be hosting the first SEXY, with hot projections and lots of that good old dancefloor magick.

Oh, and if there’s anything you’d like to see at SEXY that you’ve always thought was lacking in your nights out, let us know. This is a chance for all of us to build something unique for US, not just another faux-indie night to make some greasy promoter rich.

So grab the blow dryer and a can of super-concrete-strength lacquer, and start building that hair higher and higher! We gonna get SEXY.
