In a world full of so much disposable dance music, trendy hedonism and ear grating soulless music comes a night like no other. HA is a long needed alternative to the current nauseating & overtly commercialized scene. The constant rise of violence happening in our clubs has forced us out, and into new and more creative forms of social activity. HA is the long overdue alternative driven by the passion for good music and the freedom to dance.

In the depths of the city, hiding in the shell of a once abandoned Chinese restaurant, is HA. Like no other place known to man, HA stands on principles of secrecy, that govern its nature as a passion filled party environment, embracing a cosmic musical diversity with every beat of its heart: Disco, Space-Rock…ba doom…. Chicago House, Afrobeat…badoom badoom badoom… Motown, ‘60s French pop, Krautrock, …badoom…Italo Disco, Reggae and Psychedelic soul.

HA sits firmly tongue-in-cheek – brash in its neoclassicism, sensual, sassy – it’s a kung-fu chop to trends, to crowds, and to trash.

The word HA stands for “The Heavenly Ascension To The Secret Society Of

Im new here. Im Cale, a.k.a. Sleepyhead. Drake is a newish rapper/singer on Lil’ Wayne’s Cash Money Label. He’s recently dropped his new mixtape “So Far Gone” which features him singing/rapping over/creating new versions of songs from Lykki Li, Peter Bjorn and John, Santigold, Kanye West and Jay Z. Speaking of Kanye, with Drake, think of him as the 808′s and Heartbreaks version of Kanye, except he can actually sing. Okay so this is a shameless plug for my friends’ band, but they’re such nice guys so I gotta put the word out for them. They’re a local Perth band and have been around for a bit now playing a bunch of gigs. Their can be summed up as essentially epic, epic post rock. I think thats the right genre, but you make up your own mind, go see them supporting the Silents this Friday at Amps.

Okay, these guys fucking (can I swear on this blog?) ROCK. Tiny band out of Texas, they make kick ass rock music and they release a new cover of a song every month. So far they have done a Devo song, a techno classic, that Goodbye Horses from Silence of the Lambs, amongst others. But yeah “South of France”, an original song is a must listen. A lot of their support parts might be attributed to the fact that a major label’s signed them on – apparently because psych rock is said to be the next big thing. Or it could just be that they’re a Perth band (and Perth bands are always the next big thing). Something to look out for hey?

Generate electricity? People power? No, this isn’t The Matrix, because thankfully there are no robots. It is more about bicycles powering 1000 LED lights, flying high above the Cultural Centre.

Along with this, there will also be SILENT DISCO, LASER TAG, THE BOOTH, SCHMIGLOO, The Forbidden Garden, 100 Drums, The Silver Street Surge Parade, Tom Tom Club and 1000 Trees. That all adds up to one good time.

So bring a coin. Bring your bike. Bring your smiles and energy down to good old Northbridge town tonight.

Oh wow, Artrage is here and the Prom’s this friday. Who are you taking? (who am I taking for that matter, none of my friends can make it D=)

With bands like Gameboy/Gamegirl, Oohee, So So Modern, Boys Boys Boys!, Voltaire Twins, Shazam, Super Supreme Team and local vegan rtr dj Dave Cutbush, it’s set to be pretty sweet. Attendees are encouraged to ‘dress to dazzle’, as the prom king and queen not only get crowns, but also free entry into the entire SILVER festival program.

Tickets are $45 from Heatseaker, and venue is the Bakery/artrage complex and show starts 8pm this Friday. Someone please take me!

Full of energy and vibe and raw punk rock, Young and Restless aren’t for the weak of heart. And there’s something sexy about an all male band supporting a hot, angry lead singer.
They’re an Australian band, hailing from Melbourne and recently made Triple J’s unearthed. They are also coming to Perth.

Catch them on November 1st, Horror shop (237 Hay Street in east perth, upstairs at Shape). If you wanna get in before 12, make sure your name is on the door (ie. join the mailing list).

Voltaire twins: “Perth’s freshest electro outfit” – as said on last.fm. These guys make some really catchy dance/pop/indie/electro music and hence that’s probably the reason they’ve been up there on the triple J unearthed charts.
They played a few weeks back at the Horror shop, and currently Jaymes Arthur Voltaire. Aka Teen Wolf is also doing some DJing from time to time (he did some work this saturday at the Horror Shop).

Have to check out these guys.

They are launching their album (we know why the earth moves) tomorrow! At 8 pm on saturday the 28th of June folks, at the Rocket room in northbridge.
The Slow Beings have sprung from the ashes of Perth’s finest indie bands and are getting a lot of rotation on RTRfm and triple J, so get ‘em while they’re still obscure guys.

Supported by the Chris Mason Implosion and Toby Richardson & the surround sound, this is probably gonna be a great night, a good overview of the kind of artists on Hidden Shoal.
